Hello Georgia friends! I'm playing a solo recital on July 30th, literally the day before I'm making my move to LA. The brilliant Judy Cole will be joining me on piano to perform: JT Burson: "Excursions on a Common Hymn Tune "Ernest Bloch: "From Jewish Life" Benedetto Marcello: Concerto for Oboe Robert Planel: Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra Nathan Hudson: "Still Life" and "Pillow Talk" JT Burson: "Reflections on an Uncommon Man, MLK"

John-Thomas Burson (trumpet) and Judy Cole (piano) are excited to present a Sunday afternoon program of music ranging from the Baroque to modern day. A particular highlight is a new piece for flugelhorn and piano by Georgia native composer Nathan Hudson, who will be in attendance. Burson will also perform his own music along with the mighty Robert Planel Trumpet Concerto, one of the most brilliant French offerings for the instrument. The Marcello Concerto for Oboe is also on the program, although adapted for piccolo trumpet from the original score. This diverse tasting of music for trumpet and piano aims to interest all ages and serves as an introduction to brass music at large. J.T. Burson attended Kennesaw State University where he earned a B.M. in Trumpet Performance. Originally from Acworth, Georgia, he became active in the Atlanta music scene, performing with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra (including a solo appearance in 2014) and co-founding the metro-based ensemble Spectacle Brass. For the past two years, Burson was a fellowship recipient at the prestigious Aspen Music Festival in Colorado. Recently finishing his Master of Music in Performance at New York's Stony Brook University, he will be relocating to Los Angeles in August 2017 where he will be pursuing a Doctorate in Musical Arts at USC.

With more than 30 years' experience as a commercial musician, Judy Cole is now a Professor at Kennesaw State University's School of Music, coaching both Musical Theatre and Opera, teaching academic classes and accompanying faculty and student recitals. Her Masters Degree from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati included specialization in Musical Theatre, and she plays with the pit orchestras of the Fox Theatre as often as scheduling allows. At home both as a soloist and as a collaborator, her repertoire encompasses Beethoven to Brahms, Chopin to Bernstein, Debussy to Brubeck, Rodgers and Hammerstein to Sondheim and Jason Robert Brown. Judy is known for her ability to play diverse styles authentically, and for making soloists feel comfortable and free to be creative.
